The Safe Schools Program physical skills training enables teachers and staff to manage situations where the only appropriate response is the prompt skillful use of physical intervention.
The Safe Schools Program can be divided into 4 main components:
1. How to safely and quickly break up a fight between students
2. Personal defense for teachers
3. Physical restraint
4. Escort
The ENTER Module:
ENGAGE the Aggressor
NEUTRALIZE the threatening behavior
TAKE control of the situation
ESCORT the students to proper location
RETURN the day to normal
This module will give teachers or staff the skills they need to break up fights while keeping themselves and other students safe. In this module of instruction we will cover how to separate and restrain students that are fighting. With the focus being that the combative students are not harmed and that only APPROPRIATE techniques are used to get the students under control.
The Personal Defense Module:
The personal defense system was developed to meet the following criteria:
1. To be quickly learned and effective
2. Able to use from any position including on the ground
3. Can be used effectively by smaller persons
4. A weapons disarm module can be included
Some of the personal defense techniques that will be learned are:
1. Same side wrist grab
2. Two on one wrist grab
3. Two on Two wrist grab
4. Front choke
5. Side choke
6. Rear choke
7. Blocks against straight and “ Haymaker” punches
8. Blocks against kicks
9. Defense against push
10.Use of pressure points
Physical restraint and Escort Techniques:
The physical restraint and escort techniques were developed from working with some of the best law enforcement agencies in the country along with lifetime martial arts practitioners to enable the user to restrain or escort someone without harm or undo stress.
Scenario based training:
Teachers and staff will participate in scenarios that they will likely encounter. They will use the ENTER module training to solve problems in a controlled environment with our instructors playing the role of aggressive students.
